Kawaii Japan (1st Day - Akihabara)

It was on Wednesday, 05th June 2013.

Actually on that day I had a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in my company. It took almost a whole day for me, however I am personal assistant of my boss. So obviously I was so busy at that time.

At 06.30 pm I started my way to the airport, Soekarno Hatta International airport. It took around 2 hours to reach those place finally, after I caught in the bad traffic in Jakarta.

I went to Japan with another winner. Eventhough between me and her only had communication via whatsapp application and facebook message, yet in person, it doesn't take much time to make us comfortable each other. She's nice and friendly. And it was the first time I met her, Retno, her name.

Whilst waiting for the flight, I prepared my own stuff to make sure I am ready to flight to Japan.
Passport, airplane ticket, and local currency are the most important to be double checked
Exactly at 11.00 pm, I entered the airplane, Garuda Indonesia A 330-300. I (still) didn't believe that I would go to Japan. I thought I was dreaming, but not, it was true, it was real. I walked to my seat, number 24 A, near the window as I requested. I was so happy because the flight was on time. Well, because of I had night flight, there was nothing to do, especially I was so exhausted as well, so I just fell asleep all the night.

Friday, 06th June 2013.

It was in the morning when I just opened my eyes, the beautiful flight attendant served breakfast (luckily I woke up in the very right time).

They offered me 2 choices for breakfast: porridge or omelette. And I decided to chose the second one.
Omelette natural, chicken sausage, baby potatoes and grilled tomato, sliced fresh fruit, bread and butter, orange juice
Trust me, it was really delicious (or maybe because I was starving from the night). Nah, seroiusly, it was soooo nice, all of them! The meals was delivered around 2 hours before landing. However I finished my breakfast less than 30 minutes anyway :D

My heart beat faster knowing that less than 1,5 hours to go I will arrive in Japan. I was super excited! And here the time brought me to touch down in Narita Airport at 09.00am (in local time).

Finally, I was in Japan
Welcome to Japan
Hei, look at this! I was in Japan, not even in the city, still in the airport, but I was so excited! Really I did :D

Narita airport is pretty big. But because of I went with friend, not alone, so I didn't feel worried to get lost like my experience before in Sydney airport.

When I went to immigration, we had to fill the form and should do fingers print and retina check. After that, I went through to custom section. I thought my luggage will be naked like in Sydney airport, but it didn't. The officer just asked me "do you bring cigarette?" I said "no" then he just let me went through. So simple.

Actually me and my friend already had a plan to go to hotel by train. We also had a note about the route that we had to take. But, when I asked about the price, by using Narita express train, it take around 2500 yen and should be transferred once or 2900 yen for direct line to Ikebukuro station.

When I was in Indonesia, I also wrote about transportation by bus which is having route directly to the hotel I will stay in. It took 3000 yen / IDR 300.000 / USD 33 for one way ticket by Limosine Airport bus. So me and my friend prefer went by bus.

When I paid the ticket, I've been told that the bus will be ready to go at 09.40am. I looked at my watch, it was 07.37 am, so I decided to take a sit for a while. Then, the seller ran towards me and said "sumimasen, come on, the bus will go 3 minutes later".

I just recognised that Japan is 2 hours faster than my local clock. What a fool of me!

It truly gave me very good impression of Japanese. What a good of her. I could not imagine if she didn't tell me. I might be lost my 3000 yen and had to wait an hour later because of my fool.

When I entered the bus, in my opinion, it was quite good. When the bus started driving, (and another thing that made me impressed) all of the employees beside the bus bowed down to the passengers until the bus left the station. What a polite!
Direct route: Narita Airport to Sunshine City Prince Hotel (3000 yen one-way)
It took an hour past 10 minutes from Narita Airport to arrive exactly in front of hotel at 1-5, Higashi – Ikebukuro 3 – Chrome,Toshima-ku. I arrived in hotel at 10.50 am. Unfortunately, check-in time just started at 02.00pm, so I had to wait for a while.

However, I just didn't want to waste my time just sit and wait, so I and my friend decided to look around and realised that was a mall beside the hotel. Because of both of us didn't have lunch yet, so I bought a cup of instant noodle and strawberry milk.
I bought my lunch at Family Mart. It value 295 yen / IDR 29.500 / USD 3

After looked around, finally it was 02.00 pm, so we could check-in, yeeey! Our room was in the 2723, floor 27th.

The best thing that I like mostly, I found the kimono for sleep! Woow, I must be very sexy using those :) So I kept it for night.
My kimono for sleep with :)
I just fell asleep for awhile not longer than 10 minutes after I laid my self on the bed. I woke up at 05.00 pm, took a shower and ready to get my first trip, Akihabara!
At Ikebukuro Train Station
Train ticket from Ikebukuro to Akihabara is 190 yen / IDR 19.000 one-way
And here I am. Akihabara (秋葉原). The central place of AKB 48 (very famous girl band from Japan).

In front of Akihabara Station

I walked around there. I entered some stores. Tokyo Anime Centre, Don Quijote and some of store more. When I went to one of corner at Don Quijote, I thought I went to wrong way. There is sex-corner where is selling sex toys. Aw aw aw.

However, eventhough Don Quijote is a discount store chain that carries everything from groceries and toys to electronics and high end fashion goods, I didn't buy anything there. I just felt I have no interest to buy something there.

Near from exit door, there is a takoyaki counter. Yeeey, finally I could feel my favorite snack in the original country it comes from.

My dinner at Akihabara: Takoyaki originally from Japan!

Cheese Mayonise Takoyaki value 450 yen for 6 pcs or 550 yen for 8 pcs
I forgot the name because it was Retno's menu. It value 400 yen for 6 pcs.
Yummy, oishi!

After had small dinner, I continued walk and found a store named Akky. It sells duty free goods and I saw very cute souvenir to give away my friends and family in Indonesia. I bought some and it took my money around 4500 yen / IDR 450.000.

Time ran so fast and it was 10.30 pm. So I decided to went back to hotel to take a nap. Because tomorrow me and my friends planed to go to Disney Sea. By taking the same train, I went back to hotel. So tired but excited.

I also captured how Ikebukuro looks like in the night. What a city!

Right after arrived in hotel, the moment I was looking forward to wearing a kimono.. Let's try!!
It was so soft touch my skin :)

Well, that was the end of my trip in my first day. And time for me to had sleep. お休みなさい..

Love,

Aditha
